The biotechnology and processed food industries, led by Monsanto, have repeatedly spent huge amounts of money to prevent the labeling of GMO foods. They’ve been successful in the US – and the public is angry about this. For more information, see The Monsanto Protection Act is Back, and Worse Than Ever (Center for Food Safety, 2015).
You can protect your health – and vote with your dollars – by avoiding products manufactured by the following companies.

  1. Thanks so much for this info! The only product from companies listed here that we eat occasionally is Fritos. Now I know to buy organic corn chips next time we have chili. We use the organic Heinz ketchup to avoid high fructose corn syrup, and I assume anything certified organic does not contain GMO. Hope I’m right!

    1. Sunny,
Ah yes! You’d assume Certified Organic means containing no GMOs but the answer is more complicated than that. From a GMO Awareness article entitled ‘Is Organic Always GMO Free?’:

      “100% Organic:
Must contain 100 percent organically produced ingredients (excluding water and salt). This is the only label that certifies a completely organic product AND completely GMO-free ingredients.

      “Certified Organic / USDA Organic:
At least 95 percent of content is organic by weight (excluding water and salt). The <5% remaining ingredients must consist of substances approved on the USDA’s National List. GMOs are NOT on this list, so USDA Organic products are also usually GMO-free.

      "Made with Organic:
Up to 70% of the ingredients are organic. These products can NOT carry a “USDA organic” label, however their 'remaining non-organic ingredients are produced without prohibited practices, including genetic engineering'.”

It's clear our government isn't going out of its way to let us know what we're eating.
